What is post-injury massage?

Post-injury Massage Speeds Recovery

Whether you're an athlete or not, massage is a popular choice for treating injuries and is a versatile tool in an athlete's arsenal. It's beneficial in preparing athletes for competition, aiding recovery after exercise or competition, and treating a wide range of sports-related musculoskeletal injuries. Its versatility reassures athletes of its effectiveness in their journey to peak performance.

If you're an athlete looking to gain an edge over your competition or speed up your recovery time, consider adding massage therapy to your training regimen. It's not just a treatment; it's a potential game-changer that can inspire you to push your limits.

Benefits of Post-injury Massage

Reduces Psychological Tension and Stress

Massage therapy provides relief from current injuries and plays a crucial role in reducing the risk of future ones. By reducing stress levels, massage therapy can help prevent chronic stress-related health issues and muscle tension, thereby reducing the risk of future injuries.

Reduces Pain and Inflammation

Massage therapy is not just about reducing pain. It's about promoting a faster recovery. Healing damaged tissues and reducing inflammation assists the body's self-healing process. For instance, it can improve blood circulation, which in turn delivers more oxygen and nutrients to the affected areas, giving hope for a quicker return to normal.

Improved Range of Motion

One of the benefits of post-injury massage is that it can help increase the range of motion in injured areas. When a person sustains an injury, scar tissue can form, restricting movement and causing stiffness. A massage therapist can help break up scar tissue and improve flexibility in the affected area by using various massage techniques, such as deep tissue massage.

INFORMATION YOU MAY NEED

Frequently Asked Questions

Is sports massage right for me?

Whether you play sports or not, overuse injuries can occur due to our daily activities. Sports and remedial massage can treat these injuries. We will identify the activities that may be causing the injuries and provide straightforward advice, treatment, and exercises to help. Making small changes can have a significant impact.

How often do I need a massage?

The amount and frequency of massages depend on your lifestyle and activity levels. A person training for a marathon or playing sports will likely benefit from more frequent massages than an office worker or stay-at-home mom. If your issues are minor, 2 or 3 treatments might be sufficient. Whatever your needs, we can help guide you in the right direction.

Does sports massage hurt?

Everybody responds differently to pain, so our pressure is tailored to your needs. We aim to be sensitive to your needs and requirements and help you in the best way possible. Sometimes, your body may be slightly sensitive to massage, but it should not be unbearable. It is important not to suffer in silence; keep communicating with us throughout your treatment.

Are there any possible side effects?

You may feel some soreness or fatigue in your muscles after the treatment, and you might also notice some bruising. These side effects are generally considered normal and should not cause significant concern. Importantly, they are temporary and should resolve within 24 hours. Additionally, these side effects are less likely to occur as you have more massage sessions.

What if I don't play sports?

Sports massage is suitable for individuals of all activity levels and can benefit anyone, not just athletes. Both men & women of all ages can benefit. Office workers often experience backaches, as well as stiffness in their neck and shoulders, making them ideal candidates for sports massage therapy.

What should I wear?

Towels are used during the treatment, but you will be asked to remove clothing so that we can access the treatment areas. We require you to keep your underwear on. If you are more comfortable, you can wear a pair of loose shorts.
