Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage
Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a specialised massage therapy that targets the lymphatic system and eliminates toxins, waste, and excess fluids from the body. This gentle massage technique uses light, rhythmic strokes to stimulate and encourage the lymphatic flow, helping to detoxify and improve the immune system.
The massage technique, involving slow, rhythmic movements that follow the path of the lymphatic system, is a comprehensive approach to wellness. The therapist applies gentle pressure using their hands, fingers, to stimulate the lymph nodes and encourage the flow of lymphatic fluid. We use the Brazilian method, designed for cosmetic purposes, which blends traditional lymphatic drainage massage techniques with sculpting/contouring techniques and myofascial release to target bloating, puffiness, and water retention instantly, helps reduce the appearance of cellulite and assists pre and post-surgery. This massage therapy typically starts at the neck and moves towards the extremities.
The most obvious sign you need lymphatic drainage is swelling. Like the blood part of your circulatory system, lymph fluid is in constant motion. If it stops, lymph fluid can build up and create swelling, usually in the arms and legs. If you notice your rings and clothes feeling tighter, it could be a sign of excess fluid retention. You might also experience pain, bloating or a feeling of heaviness. By being aware of these signs, you can feel confident in recognising potential issues with your lymphatic system.
During a lymphatic drainage massage, your massage therapist will use a specific sequence of massage techniques, including stretching, compressing, gliding, and cupping motions. They will begin by focusing on the main lymph drains, such as the lymph nodes in your neck, groin, armpits, and other sensitive areas. Lymphatic drainage massage involves a light rhythmical massage, manipulating specific areas of the body to help lymph move to an area with working lymph vessels.
Often lymphatic vessels become congested as a result of surgery, trauma, or diseases like cancer. Tight muscles or infection may also be signs of congestion. Additionally, conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, and heart failure can also lead to lymphatic issues.

INFORMATION YOU MAY NEED
Whether you play sports or not, overuse injuries can occur due to our daily activities. Sports and remedial massage can treat these injuries. We will identify the activities that may be causing the injuries and provide straightforward advice, treatment, and exercises to help. Making small changes can have a significant impact.
The amount and frequency of massages depend on your lifestyle and activity levels. A person training for a marathon or playing sports will likely benefit from more frequent massages than an office worker or stay-at-home mom. If your issues are minor, 2 or 3 treatments might be sufficient. Whatever your needs, we can help guide you in the right direction.
Everybody responds differently to pain, so our pressure is tailored to your needs. We aim to be sensitive to your needs and requirements and help you in the best way possible. Sometimes, your body may be slightly sensitive to massage, but it should not be unbearable. It is important not to suffer in silence; keep communicating with us throughout your treatment.
You may feel some soreness or fatigue in your muscles after the treatment, and you might also notice some bruising. These side effects are generally considered normal and should not cause significant concern. Importantly, they are temporary and should resolve within 24 hours. Additionally, these side effects are less likely to occur as you have more massage sessions.
Sports massage is suitable for individuals of all activity levels and can benefit anyone, not just athletes. Both men & women of all ages can benefit. Office workers often experience backaches, as well as stiffness in their neck and shoulders, making them ideal candidates for sports massage therapy.
Towels are used during the treatment, but you will be asked to remove clothing so that we can access the treatment areas. We require you to keep your underwear on. If you are more comfortable, you can wear a pair of loose shorts.
